From Tjörn to Värmland – with coolness, competence, and control of the technology

When we visit Höviksnäs Kyltransporter AB, we’re greeted by a haulage company where technology, environmental awareness, and the people behind the wheel take center stage. In an industry where every minute counts and every coupling must be perfect, Thomas and Katarina show how the right equipment – like VBG Driver Assist – can truly make a difference.

In a house in Töllsjö, we meet Thomas and Katarina – the founders of Höviksnäs Kyltransporter AB. Since the start in 2011, their transport company has grown to 13 trucks and around 20 drivers who deliver chilled goods daily between ICA’s warehouses and stores across western Sweden and Värmland. With the office at home and their hearts in the business, it’s clear that their passion for transport runs deep.

Hoviksnas 1“It’s a demanding but varied job – the trucks run two shifts and rarely stand still,” says Thomas

Keeping time between the warehouse and store is crucial to ensure that the food reaches the shelves on time. That’s why having the right equipment and technology isn’t just a plus – it’s a must.

Environmentally conscious choices and smart driving

bild 3Höviksnäs has recently invested in three Scania R460 trucks powered by LBG – a more environmentally friendly option using liquefied biogas. To further optimize driving, the drivers use Scania’s app for economical driving and fuel monitoring. Trailers from Haqarps Equipment are customized with double decks and tail lifts to meet ICA’s requirements.

Technology that makes a difference – VBG Driver Assist in focus

bild 2Thomas emphasizes the importance of giving drivers the right extra equipment. With the help of Scania salesman Christoffer Lindell, the trucks have been fitted with 360-degree cameras, dashcams, VBG MechMatic automatic lubrication, and Onspot snow chains. But it’s the VBG Driver Assist that has made the biggest impact.

The system acts as a sensor assistant during coupling – with sound signals that help the driver connect the rig correctly. When reversing, the system gives clear voice instructions: “Up, Down, Left, Right” – minimizing the risk of damage and downtime.

“It’s about safety for the driver and fewer costly repairs. Every minute counts in a tight terminal,” says Thomas.

The right equipment – an investment in the future

With the right technology and environmental choices, you not only improve efficiency and economy – you also make the company more attractive to skilled drivers in a time of shortage. Höviksnäs proves that it’s possible to combine efficiency, sustainability, and genuine care for the people behind the wheel.
